Designed for a machine-tool dealership company, the Yantra Engineering office is conceived as a compact and contemporary workplace that responds to the functional requirements of the organisation while creating a strong connection between the built environment, landscape, and natural light.Located on a 50 ft x 90 ft site, the building is organised around a central courtyard, which forms the spatial heart of the office. A small prayer area is integrated into the courtyard, creating a quiet and contemplative space within the workplace while bringing landscape and natural light into the centre of the building.The office is planned entirely around enclosed work cabins, responding to the need for privacy, concentration, and individual work environments. Although the cabins are clearly defined and enclosed, carefully positioned glazing and internal views create visual connections between the spaces and towards the central courtyard. This allows the workplace to retain a sense of openness and continuity without compromising the privacy and acoustic separation required by the organisation.The basement houses the machine demonstration area, providing a dedicated setting for showcasing and demonstrating the company's machine tools. Locating this function below ground allows the office floors to remain focused on the day-to-day operations of the organisation, while giving the demonstration space a distinct identity within the overall building.A large cantilevered roof creates a strong architectural gesture and provides shade and protection from the harsh southwest sun. The southwest façade is articulated in concrete, giving the building a robust and monolithic character. Dampalon panels are strategically introduced to filter the intense daylight, allowing soft, diffused natural light to enter the interiors while reducing glare and heat gain.The architecture brings together solid concrete surfaces, filtered daylight, enclosed workspaces, and the openness of the central courtyard. The resulting workplace balances privacy with visual connectivity, creating a calm and cohesive environment within a compact urban footprint, while the basement demonstration space reflects the industrial and technological character of Yantra Engineering.
