Ajax Corporate Office

The Ajax Fiori Corporate Office by Funktion Design explores a contemporary expression of the company's engineering identity through form, material, landscape and climate-responsive design.
The building derives its distinctive character from form-finished textured concrete, where the texture and solidity of the material create a unique architectural identity. A strong cantilevered façade gives the building a sculptural presence while providing shade and reducing direct solar exposure. Combined with the thermal mass of concrete, controlled openings and natural ventilation, the design incorporates passive cooling strategies suited to the local climate.
The workplace is organised around two distinct modes of working: deep work and interaction. Quieter, more focused workspaces are positioned to support concentration, while interactive spaces, meeting areas and informal gathering zones encourage collaboration and exchange. The transition between these spaces is mediated through circulation, courtyards and landscape rather than rigid boundaries.
At the heart of the project, a landscaped courtyard and water channel connect the various levels, bringing light, air and greenery deep into the building. The stepped landscape follows the site's contours, allowing the compound edge to dissolve into the terrain. As the levels step down, the boundary almost disappears, creating a seamless relationship between architecture and landscape.
The result is a workplace where textured concrete, passive cooling, landscape and carefully differentiated work environments come together to create a distinctive and human-centred architectural experience.
