Yantra Corporate Office
Corporate
project description
The client’s brief was to design a corporate and sales office for heavy machinery, which also included a series of closed discussion rooms, conference rooms and private cabins along with workstations & a machine demo centre. A rather programmatically rigid brief for a limited site size of 50 feet x 90 feet led to reinterpreting the typology of a conventional closed office arrangement to create an airy open interior environment.
The design approach was to create a central green core around which all the workspaces open into thereby reducing the sense of enclosure. The courtyard-facing front is clad in a translucent skin made of danpalon that cuts off the glare of the sun and admits diffused light into interior spaces. A fabricated steel staircase suspended from the first floor roof by tensile rods, with treads clad in leatherette granite adjacent to the courtyard connects the various levels.
The site was naturally lower than the road by more than 1.5 meters (5feet) and this provided an opportunity to tuck in additional space at the basement level and create the demo center.
