The Interlock House
Residential
project description
Designed for a growing family, this project is an outcome keeping in mind the future needs and consists of two duplex houses interlocking into each other.
Having a space crunch because of its long list of requirements, accommodating the conventional garden was out of the question; therefore this house explores new options by elevating the internal gardens at different levels also making them a buffer space for sound and privacy at the interlocks of the two units.
The design idea was to have two independent houses interlock each other at green spaces to unite as one built form.
The modest size plot today accommodates 3-car parking and 2 housing units with three bedrooms each. An elevator and a straight flight staircase take people to the upper unit with double height dining space. The entire house overlooks the green and scenic defense forestland adjacent to the site.
